1. Who we are
TheRemoteTribe (theremotetribe.co) is a community platform for remote tech professionals. It is operated by Gwenael Kerneur, an independent operator based in France.

2. What we collect
- Account: email address, hashed password, and — if you sign in via LinkedIn — your LinkedIn name and profile photo.
- Profile: name, title, bio, city, country, skills, and any optional information you choose to add (phone number, website, LinkedIn URL). Nothing on this list is mandatory except your email address.
- Activity: event registrations, tribe memberships, job applications, and event co-hosting roles.
- Contact form: your name, email and message.
- Newsletter: your email address if you sign up.
- Technical: session cookies necessary for login, and analytics cookies only with your explicit consent (managed via our cookie banner).
We do not collect payment data (billing is handled outside the platform) and we never ask for your gender.
3. Who can see what
Events — guest list
We designed visibility rules around the main concern: no one should be able to find out who will be where and when without a legitimate reason.

Profiles
- Your name and professional title are visible to anyone.
- Your email address and phone number are never displayed publicly. Hosts can see the email addresses of their own registered guests, nowhere else.
- If you have no profile name set, you appear as "Member" — never as your email address.
Tribes — member list
- The number of members is visible to everyone.
- The member list (names, titles) is visible to the tribe host and co-hosts only.
4. Where data is stored
- Servers: OVH, a French company. Datacenter location: Gravelines, France (EU).
- Email delivery: Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), a French company with EU-based infrastructure.
- Analytics: Google Analytics — only loaded after you accept cookies.
- LinkedIn sign-in: if you use this option, LinkedIn processes your login. We only receive your name and photo.
- reCAPTCHA: used on the contact form to prevent spam. Google processes your IP address for this purpose.
We do not sell or rent your data to any third party.
5. How long we keep it

6. Your rights
Delete your account: you can do this at any time from your profile settings. It takes effect immediately and removes all information that identifies you. Events and tribes you hosted remain but are attributed to "Deleted User".
Other requests (access to your data, correction, portability, objection to processing): send an email to privacy@theremotetribe.co from the address linked to your account. We will respond within 30 days.
You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority: cnil.fr.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change. The date at the top always shows the latest version. For significant changes, we will notify you by email.
